Choosing a real estate professional to represent your interests can be more difficult than it appears. You want someone amicable that you can relate you but you also him or her to be good at what they do. How do you determine how good they are? By asking questions. One of the first questions you want to ask your Brampton realtor is how long have they been in the business and which areas do they specialize in. Beware of a realtor who tells you they work everywhere in the Greater Toronto Area. You want to hire a professional with experience in the areas that interest you. During your initial conversion pay attention to the behavior of the real estate agent. Does he talk non stop about himself? Or does he ask questions and really listen to your answers? Good listening skills seen like a obvious trait in a realtor but it is not so. You want to hire someone who will listen to what you want and offer advice rather than push you in a direction you don’t want to go. Beware of agents who market themselves as number one. Having a lot of listings is great but how many of those listings actually sold? How long did it take and what was the final selling price. Sure you want someone with experience on your side but you would be better off with an agent who had 10 listings and sold all ten rather than one who had 25 and only sold 12. Don’t be shy to ask questions. You wouldn’t hire an accountant or a lawyer without some background information. The same applies to a real estate agent.
