When it comes to buying cards I used to shy away from the Christian cards and just purchase whatever card made me laugh at the time. Then I ran into a situation where I purchased a card that was just not appropriate for the situation. You know the scene in the movie, where everything goes in slow motion. That was what happened to me. I had to run over and grab the card out of the persons hand before they opened it.

This was one of the most embarrassing situations I have ever had to deal with. However, it did teach me a tremendously valuable lesson. It is funny how some of the smallest actions and reactions will teach you some of the most important life lessons. When it comes to purchasing greeting cards I now stick to the basics. I now purchase either Christian cards or your typical soft sell greeting card.

I tend to purchase more of the Christian cards, because of their meaning. They always have just the right saying or scripture on them to put you in just the right mood. I realized that when giving cards, there is a time to be funny and a time to be giving. I also realized that it is better to purchase a blank card and write your own message on the inside. It is the small things that your friends will appreciate. When they receive a card they want to feel like it is coming from the heart not something you saw at the gas station.
