Dangerous Rats are On the Prowl
A terrible problem all over the world today, vermin have been infesting homes for a long time. There are many types of pests and many reasons they move in to a home. However, rats are a very dangerous pest to have in the home. Originally from Asia, they can be found eating trash in practically ever city in the United States now. Some people think that after this huge migration, these rodents have earned the right to move in to people’s houses. However, these vermin are disease ridden, dirty, and out of control. A home is no place for their kind to dwell, especially homes with the elderly or children because of their sensitive immune systems.
These dangerous and disgusting vermin are known to carry zoonotic pathogens that can transfer across species, which means they can transfer to humans. Disease carrying bugs can take up residence on rats, and pass their diseases on to humans that way as well. This is thought to be the cause of the Black Death in Europe during the Middle Ages. The Tropical Rat Flea carried the disease and attacked the Black Rat. The Black Rat then became a carrier of this disease, and passed in on to humans. The Black Death is said to have killed 30% to 60% of the entirety of Europe’s population. Unfortunately, that is not a small number, and now these rodents are living in homes like they were never the culprits.
Nowadays, there are many ways to protect a home against the possibility of disease-ridden rodents taking up residence. They have poisons for rats, which is said to be an effective way of getting rid of them. However, it is not very wise to use poison when there are small children or household pets around. For the humane rat hunters, there are traps that enclose the rodent after it is baited in to the trap. There are other forms of traps that kill the rat after baiting it. Pest control companies offer services to remove these vermin, and that way the home owner does not have to deal with the messy details involved in traps and poison.
