Chicken Coups – Complaints from Neighbours
Sometimes neighbours in urban area’s don’t like chickens. They can even get a little overheated and call in the hired lawyers. Hen’s don’t crow like roosters but they are known to make little clucking noises and other sounds, like, “bawk, bawk”.
Council employee’s can be sent out with noise meters to investigate any complaints but generally if chicken’s are happy and stress free the noise meter devices don’t detect the clucks, bawks or sqwaks. Usually it can be conceded that the chickens are not loud enough to violate the city noise ordinance rules.
Having a sensible chicken coup with good conditions is the solution to noise problems. When chickens are happy they don’t usually make a lot of noise at all. It is when they are stressed that the noise can become a problem. They can get bored easily and pick on each other. Having 4 square metres per chicken is enough room for a happy flock plus putting roosts and ramps in you coups will also keep them happy. Having the food hanging from above and a circular dish where they can all reach the food will eliminate squabbling and keep the food dry off ground.
If noise is not the issue some neighbours in a down wind can complain about the smell although if the chicken coups are regularly cleaned odor will not be a problem. Usually changing the hens bedding twice a week is enough to ensure the chicken coup won’t smell.
If you have any gloomy council inspections it is also a plus to have a clean, neat, tidy yard with chicken coups containing your healthy chickens. Vist Chicken Coups For More Ideas
