The use of pavers in high traffic areas like bus stations, shopping malls, pedestrian areas and home walkways and driveways is probably the reason for the increase in brick paver sealers being used. A brick paver sealer can provide a wet look finish and restore or enhance the bricks natural colors. Sealers are also a big help with making those treated areas much easier to maintain and keep clean. If there are worn or damaged areas, they can easily be re coated without the hassle of grinding or re cleaning. Applying paver sealer can extend the life of the pavers by up to 40%. It provides a non-yellowing clear film and suppresses efflorescence. In heavy use areas, the pavers will retain their natural color and resist oil and grease.  Having the proper tools, such as a dry stiff bristle broom to remove all loose material from the pavers is highly recommended. A high pressure cleaning of the pavers that have any moss and algae on them should be treated also. Most paver sealers will require two coats with about two hours in between them. A curing time of about seven to ten days until heavy traffic, machinery or furniture is allowed to come in contact with the pavers should be enough time. Some precautions to consider would be the weather, excessive humidity, rain or dew or cold temps would be a reason to hold off on applying the sealer. Some pavers may become slippery when sealers are applied and the surface and quantities of sealer are all factors in that matter. If there will be hundreds or thousands of people walking on the surface and there is a slick film to it, then re coating with one that is for a high traffic area, should be considered.
