Used Saab – Depreciation Factors
If you are in the market for a new vehicle, or even a new-to-you vehicle you may want to consider buying a used Saab. These vehicles are a bit pricey if you buy them brand new, but they are really great reliable vehicles. One thing to note with buying new is the depreciation factor. It happens instantly as soon as it leaves the dealer’s lot.
Determine your budget. You can expect to pay anywhere from $3000 USD for a model made around the year 2000 up to in excess of $40,000 USD for a model year 2009. The pricing will vary depending upon condition, mileage and age of the vehicle. If you only have a few thousand to spend you can still easily drive away with a used Saab that is in excellent condition.
Create two lists. When you go shopping for a used Saab consider writing up two lists before you go. The first list should contain items that the vehicle must have while the second list will contain features that you would like the vehicle to have but it’s not mandatory. For example you may decide that you only want a convertible or maybe the car needs to have 4 doors. Know what you want before you browse at a dealership.
Always check VIN numbers. Before you bust out your wallet to buy a used Saab that just seems like the greatest deal ever, check the VIN number. Checking the VIN number will basically tell you the entire history of a vehicle including any accidents and also who the car has previously been registered to. You want to make sure the title is free and clear and that there are no liens out on the car. You normally only have to worry about titles and liens if you’re buying from a private seller.
Consider both private sellers and dealerships. Buying a used Saab from a private seller provides a number advantages the main one being that you’ll probably save quite a bit of money. Dealerships are okay too and you’ll have a larger selection to choose from but be prepared to work on how to negotiate a fair price.
When you’re looking for a used Saab you will likely find that they are in decent condition because many Saab owners will sell or trade their Saab in for a brand new one. So while you may have to start out with a used Saab you always have the option of trading up at a later time.
